KEY OF LIBERTY
PREREQUISITES: 12 years and older
CONTENT: This is the deepest dive into the Revolutionary War and colonial America that you can get in one short year. Scholars will study the founding of America, the Revolutionary War, and the Constitution. They will consider what freedom means and how our lives might be different without those freedoms. They will delve into the lives of some of the Founders, and determine what made them great leaders. They will complete document studies of some of our founding documents including The Mayflower Compact, The Declaration of Independence, and make connections on how they apply today. During this class, each scholar is challenged to read many books throughout the year, write papers each week based on what we learned in class and in our reading, and be prepared to participate in mature colloquiums about the books we read. During this class, each scholar is challenged to earn awards by completing specific requirements.
EXPECTATIONS: It is estimated that the scholars will study 4-5 hours per week preparing for this class, and an additional 1-2 hours per week if completing the Above and Beyond requirements. Please also factor in additional time for slower readers and workers.
MATERIALS: Books, supplies and awards included in tuition
