First Semester:
Scholars focus on developing strong communication and collaboration skills while expanding their comfort zone and emotional intelligence through vocal and physical movement, expression, and performance. Scholars will read previously written dramatic works and write their own contemporary dramatic literature. Each student prepares selected pieces to share with the class and the wider commonwealth.
Second Semester:
Scholars apply everything they’ve learned by leading the creation of a full play or musical performed during the semester. Scholars take on real production roles—such as directors, set builders, producers, musicians, editors, actors, and stage managers—working together to bring the production to life.
Throughout the semester, scholars will also learn from professionals in related fields, including music production, film, construction, finance, and other disciplines connected to theatrical production, gaining insight into how these skills translate beyond the stage.
Estimated workload outside of class is 1–2 hours per week.
This class runs from September through April.
